Nature Turism

In reference to biodiversity, Colombia is in second place in the world. The protected ecosystems serve as possibilities for scientific research or simply to observe and experience which makes the country a unique destination for nature tourism. Colombia can be divided into five geographical climates and each has its own specific landscape, flora and fauna. These include the regions of the Andes, the Caribbean, the Pacific, the Amazon and the Llanos Orientales. On the Colombian continental shelf consists of 53 million ha of natural forests, 22 million ha of savannas, dry and wet areas, snow-capped peaks and 1 million ha of waters. 14% of the national territory are protected areas with state parks, nature parks and nature reserves. There are interesting and surprising figures about Colombia´s nature: out of the entire species advent in the world, Colombia possesses 20% of bird species, 17% of amphibians, 8% of freshwater fish, 8% of reptiles, 16% of day butterflies and 10% of mammals, among others.
